Terms & Conditions
The following terms and conditions apply for Guest Authors and Contributors who wish to write for, submit, and publish their work with Readlane.
For purposes of this agreement, “Work” refers to written work produced by the undersigned guest author/contributor that may variously be called as article, piece, or post.
“Work” also refers to contributions of the visual kind such as photographs, illustrations, posters, and other digital images, whenever applicable.
By submitting your work for consideration by Readlane, you consent to the following guest-author/contributor rules:
Original Content
Work submitted to Readlane, must be original in content and not have been previously published elsewhere.
While previously published content may be accepted under exceptional conditions, these decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and only when the said content is one from which our readers gain some knowledge.
Copyright Permissions
Should an exception be made where we publish one of your previously published pieces, it is your responsibility to acquire proper copyright permissions, inform us, of people/organizations that would need to be acknowledged, and clearly state if and what changes were made to the original before submitting to us.
Unacceptable Work
Articles that are of a generic kind, are weak in focus, appear to ramble on, that may be easily found via Internet searches, or those that have been written about extensively will be rejected.
Acceptable Work
Fresh content that provides new insights into a topic of interest to the readers of Readlane, (examples, parenting across cultures/borders, multiculturalism, cross-cultural parenting practices, biracial identities, inclusively, multi ethnic upbringing, and so on) will be gladly considered.
Should your content provide hitherto unexplored perspectives on an old (much-written-about) topic, we may make an exception. This is also decided on a case-by-case basis.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is unacceptable and grounds for the immediate blacklisting of the author/s submitting the plagiarized article.
At the discretion of the editors, a submitted article may be put through a plagiarism detection software at any time during the process from submission to acceptance to publication.
Should we miss something, you, the author, assume all responsibility for the consequences of your actions and will not hold Readlane, its editorial team or other staff directly or indirectly accountable for any negative outcomes.
Citing Sources
Whenever appropriate, sources and references must be duly cited and appropriate credit must be given where needed. This applies for content as well as digital images.
Acceptance Status
We reserve the right to accept, accept with reservations (we will send it back to you for clarifications that if explained to our satisfaction may then be given full consideration toward acceptance), request an advanced revise and resubmit, or reject your work.
Whenever possible, as a courtesy to the author, we will give you feedback on your article. However, we are under no obligation to do so every time.
Editing
In addition, we may edit your article to make sure your content meets our website’s standards for acceptable quality. We promise not to change the spirit and message of your article.
In cases where we feel the need to make a lot of changes, we may either request a rewrite or make the changes ourselves and solicit your input on your article before publishing it. At this point, should you not agree with our edits, you are free to withdraw your submission.
What not to submit/Affiliate Linking
You will not submit advertising, promotional, or sponsored posts to Readlane, unless so commissioned by us.
You may not use your own affiliate links or those of others in your article. All affiliate links will be those benefiting Readlane. You may have up to 1 external link in your article.
Digital Contributions
Whenever possible, you may submit digital images to support your articles. We will make every effort to use an appropriate image to go with your written work.
Should you choose to submit images, you need to be the photographer or creator of the submitted image, should have acquired the image from a royalty/copyright-free source, or have the necessary permissions to publish the image in Readlane.
Removal of Published Articles
Readlane, reserves the right to unpublish your article published on readlane.com at any time without prior intimation or explanation.
Republishing Your Article
You own your content. However, original content published in Readlane, may only be published elsewhere after 3 months from the date of its first publication in Readlane, following the fulfillment of these conditions:
- Requests for republishing your article must first be acquired from the editorial team of Readlane. Please send an email to askreadlane@gmail.com
- Credit must be given to Readlane, as the source of first publication.
- A link must be provided to the homepage of the portal in the following format:
This article was first published in readlane.com, It is published here (your new platform) with permission.
All non-author submitted images that were used in your article remain the property of Readlane, and may not be republished.
Compensation
You will not be compensated for your article unless otherwise agreed upon.
Promotions
We reserve the right to promote your article on Readlane, on our social media platforms, and elsewhere as deemed necessary or appropriate. By submitting your article and images to Readlane, you give us exclusive rights to promote your content as long as we give you author’s credit. There should be no expectation of any financial or other benefits from these promotions. We may use your social media handles and links to associate your article with you unless you explicitly tell us not to do so.
No Responsibility Clause
You do not hold readlane.com, its editorial team, directors, staff, consultants, or anybody else directly or indirectly associated with Readlane, liable or responsible for any potential legal issues, fallout, disrepute or damage that may occur from publishing your work.
Right to Modify
We reserve the right to revise, make changes, or modify in any way, this readlane.com-Writers and Contributors Terms and Conditions Agreement.
